I'm back for good!

I officially have internet again!!! Hopefully this will spark a revival of blog posts! LOTS has happened in the past 2 months. Our sweet little man just keeps growing and growing. I can't believe he will be 5 months old next week....how the time flies! We moved into a new house last week and are somewhat settled. I will wait and post pictures after I have a kitchen table and pictures hung :) It is a dream house for us and we are SO very excited to be in it! Here are some quick stats on whats going on with Jack and I'll leave you with a few pictures to see what we are up to these days.
- Jack weighs an estimated 16 pounds
- He began eating solids a few weeks ago and eats rice cereal, oatmeal, bananas, apples, pears, green peas, and sweet potatoes.
- He LOVES Cuba and watches him all day long. He will reach for Cuba and grab his hair. We are very lucky that Cuba doesn't seem to mind!
- If Jack gets something in his hand, it is going straight to his mouth!
- He loves his paci, but only gets it in the bed or car.
- We lucked out having a child who loves to sleep. He sleeps 11 straight hours at night and takes 2 2-hour naps everyday. If he misses a nap, he is in a FOUL mood...just like his daddy use to be so I hear :)
- Mama's milk is still his favorite thing and he nurses 4 times a day taking what I think is anywhere from 6-8 ounces each feeding.
- Jack is learning how to drink from a sippy cup and does a great job, although he really just plays with it rather than drinking anything from it.
- Our little Roly Poly likes to move all around! He is rolling from tummy to back and back to tummy and scoots (unintentionally) all over the place. He rarely stops moving...I am going to have my hands FULL once he starts crawling!
- He reaches for you to pick him up...I LOVE this milestone!
- His daddy can make him laugh more than anything and anyone in the world.

Greetings from HERE!

We are enjoying a wonderful, relaxing weekend at this cabin on Smith Lake in Alabama. The boys have been fishing, the girls have been reading and swimming, and everyone has been spoiling Jack!

Blogging from the BlackBerry

We still have no internet, so gave in to blogging from my phone :) Jack is doing great and growing SO fast! He rolled over for the first time 2 weeks ago and he moves constantly (just like his daddy)! He is all smiles, coos and laughs these days. He sleeps great in his crib getting up once at night (I'm going to try to end that nightime feeding this weekend). His favorite things are eating, his daddy, tummy time, the toys on his bouncy seat, and being outside. We are having so much fun! I will try to be back soon from a REAL computer to show off some pics of my handsome little man :)

Jack- week by week

Since I'm playing catch up on the blog, thought I would "re-post" some of the old ones along with the new ones :) Enjoy!

I'M BACK!!!!

We have been without internet for a month now and it is making me CRAZY!!!! I have internet on my phone, but it is not even close to the real thing! Hopefully things will be up and running in the next week or 2. SO, what about the little man you might ask???? Well, he is becoming such a BIG man! We went to the doctor today and Jack is weighing a whopping 11 pounds, 12 ounces and is 21 inches long....compared to 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 1/2 inches at birth exactly 2 months and 1 day ago! The boy likes to eat :) He is SO much fun now, smiling and cooing. He is especially fond of his daddy gobbling, quacking and making other wildlife noises. Jack spent a week at the beach last week and did great! I'll leave you with some pictures and a promise to be back soon!!!

ONE MONTH OLD!!!

This is a few days late, but I wanted to share all about Jack at 1 month old!

Jack, you are 1 month old! You weigh a little over 8 lbs and just started wearing size 1 diapers. Your mama packed away your newborn clothes over the weekend and you now are wearing 0-3 months clothes. I can't get over how fast you are growing!!! You LOVE to eat and do so every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day. Your mama is SO proud that you started sleeping 5-6 hours at night at 3 weeks old! You don't love taking naps during the day (you catnap), but it is worth it when you sleep from 8:30 to 7:00 (getting up around 2 and 5 for a quick feeding) almost every night. You LOVE to be on your tummy and are holding your head up like a little pro. You are just now starting to track objects and your daddy loves to play with you and your toys. You love your paci and so does Cuba...we have had to throw a couple of them away because of your furry brother. You just started smiling in response to your mama and daddy, and we can almost ALWAYS get a couple of smiles out of you early in the morning (your favorite time of the day...just like your daddy!). Cooing is a new trick of yours...but you have to try pretty hard at this one! You LOVE to be outside and we stroll every morning and your daddy puts you in the Baby Bjorn and "wears" you for our evening walk every night. You're already a little bit spoiled, but that's because you have so many people to love on you! We can't believe how much we can love such a little guy!

Jack's Slideshow is Ready!!!

2 weeks ago, a very talented photographer, Brandy Jaggers, came into our home and took the most amazing pictures of Jack. She has put together a slideshow of the pictures and to tell the truth, I can't watch it without at least 1 tear falling :) Here is the link: http://animoto.com/play/UMzR9K4D17Ai29k2Mv7lRg
Make sure you turn up the volume!!!

Jack's Birthday

Here is the "journaling" that Allen recorded the day Jack was born:

4:00 Wake up to get ready to go to hospital
5:30 Arrive at hospital and check in
7:54 Start pitocin drip (delayed due to Doc forgetting to send in order :)
8:45 Doc broke her water
8:50 Contractions become more intense
10:48 Still stalled at 4 cm. Terra gives in and asks for pain meds while waiting on epidural
11:15 Terra is loopy and hates the pain meds. Ready for epidural, but anesthesiologist in an emergency surgery
11:20 Baby's heart rate drops sharply to 75
11:21 Nurses run in to monitor baby and mama
11:22 Heart rate stabilizes with Terra on her side
1:15 FINALLY epidural administered! Still at 4 cm
1:55 Baby and Mom's heart rate continue to stay stable
2:15 8 cm! Nurse says baby will be here soon
2:25 Already at 10 cm!!!
2:30 Pushing begins
2:41 Baby is crowning and has hair!
3:10 Doc walks in and tells Terra to stop pushing so he can deliver baby instead of nurse!
3:16 Doc says 1 more push and baby will be here!
3:17 Baby arrives and Doc tells me to take a look and tell mom. I tell her "IT'S A BOY!!!"
3:18 Terra holds baby Jack for the first time
3:25 I tell family that "Jack is here!"

IT'S A BOY!!!

John Allen Cravens, III "JACK" arrived Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 3:17 pm weighing 6lbs, 3oz and measuring 19 1/2 inches long. We are SO in love!
